Best. Sunset. Ever.

I captured this sunset almost 8 years ago in Mckinney, TX. I remember be fascinated by the the orange to peach to pink ring of color that extended almost a full 360 degrees. The atmosphere was perfect to capture this beautiful distribution of colors. This was my double rainbow!

Melting Sunset was born from this photo. A 12″ x 30″ pieced on untreated cotton canvas, this painting was one of a number of ‘firsts’ for me; as I was just beginning to experiment with thinning out my acrylics. Even today, I’ll work with a 2-3″ simple house brush and really work the paint into the canvas. I enjoy adding more water back into the canvas, essentially, lifting the pigment of the surface and playing! Enjoy!
